Who we are

This website (the-only-winning-move-is-not-to-play.com, "the site") is a collection of free, browser-based applications operated by a private individual in Sweden. You can reach the site operator at contact@the-only-winning-move-is-not-to-play.com.

Data we process

Server logs. Like virtually every website, our web server automatically records standard access logs: your IP address, the pages you request, the time of the request, and your browser's user-agent string. We use these logs solely to operate the site and to detect abuse or technical problems. Logs are deleted automatically after at most 30 days.

The applications themselves. Our apps run entirely in your browser. Game state and statistics are kept in your browser's memory only and disappear when you close the page. The site currently sets no cookies of its own and operates no user accounts, analytics of its own, or server-side databases of visitor data.

Functional cookies and local storage. Some of our apps may in the future use cookies or the browser's local storage to remember things for your convenience between visits — for example your scores, progress or favourite settings. Such storage will only ever be used for user-facing functionality of this kind: never for tracking, profiling, analytics or advertising. The data stays in your browser and is not transmitted to us. You can remove it at any time by clearing this site's cookies and site data in your browser, at the cost of the apps forgetting your saved scores and settings.

Advertising

We display advertisements served by Google AdSense to fund the site. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies (such as device identifiers) to serve ads and, where you consent to it, to personalise them based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

• If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent via a consent banner before any personalised advertising cookies are set. You can decline and still use the site; ads will then be non-personalised. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time via the consent settings link at the bottom of the page.

• You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google at adssettings.google.com, and from many other vendors at aboutads.info.

Legal bases (GDPR)

• Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for personalised advertising cookies.
• Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) for server logs used to keep the site secure and operational.

International transfers

Google may process advertising data on servers outside the EU/EEA, including in the United States, under safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses. See Google's privacy documentation linked above for details.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to request access to, rectification or erasure of your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. You may withdraw any consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Sweden, the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY, imy.se) — or with the authority in your own country.

Note that we hold almost no personal data ourselves: beyond short-lived server logs, the data described above is processed by Google as an independent controller for its advertising services.

Children

The site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy — for example when adding new applications or advertising partners — we will update this page and the date at the top.
